Panagiotis Michalatos
Panagiotis Michalatos is an architect, assistant professor in architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and a Principal Research Engineer at Autodesk. Between 2006 and 2010 he worked as a computational design researcher for the London based structural engineering firm AKT. While in AKT along with colleague Sawako Kaijima they provided consultancy and designed computational solutions for a range of high profile projects. They have also developed a range of software applications for the intuitive and creative use of structural engineering methods in design. Panagiotis' work in interaction design and digital media has resulted in a long lasting collaboration with Stockholm based contemporary dance company CCAP.
Andrew O. Payne
Andrew Payne is an architect and a Principal Research Engineer at Autodesk. He holds a Doctoral degree from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design where his research focused on personalized intelligent comfort control strategies for buildings. Andrew’s other research interests include embedded computation, parametric design, robotics, microcontrollers, and 3d printing. He is the co-author and lead developer of Firefly – a software plugin which bridges the gap between the digital CAD environment of Rhino/Grasshopper with physical input/output devices like the Arduino, web cams, mobile phones, game controllers and more. He has lectured and taught workshops throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe and has held teaching positions at Columbia University and the Pratt Institute. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA).
